Trident WMD renewal

nuclear-weapons-test-67557_960_720
The misguided fools in Westminster have just voted to continue with the Trident nuclear missile so called defence contract renewal. The vote was 472 to 117 to renew this death machine, these weapons of mass destruction.

It seems now that the Tories brought forward the vote in order to further spit the Labour party to try and get rid of Jeremy Corbyn. We live in a democracy don’t we? If the UK government had put the Trident renewal to a referendum instead of playing with people’s lives, the people would have a real chance to tell the government otherwise.

Prime Minister Teresa May says she is prepared to put her finger on the nuclear button and possible kill hundreds of thousands of innocent people in some foreign land. Teresa May says that we need these weapons for our defence but most of the countries on this planet do not have nuclear weapons.

Does the rest of the world need to get their own in order to make the world a safer place?

If the UK government wanted instead to stock pile chemical or biological weapons to protect our boarders then there would be a national outrage, but nuclear missiles that can kill just as well and in great numbers is somehow OK. We are indeed controlled by misguided fools.

Israeli rabbi bans girls over 5 from riding bikes

serveimage
An Ultra-Orthodox Israeli rabbi has introduced a new decree in one of Jerusalem’s neighborhoods that forbids all girls over the age of five from riding bicycles, claiming the activity is “provocative” and could “cause serious damage to their modesty.”

The rabbi is from Jerusalem’s Nahloat district and part of the ultra-Orthodox Haredi branch of Judaism that rejects modern secular culture. His ruling was distributed to a number of synagogues.

“We inform parents that they are obligated to forbid their daughters from age five and up from acting in this illegitimate way,” Ynet reported, citing the ban.

The rabbi said that bike seats “cause serious damage to their modesty” and the sight of girls sitting on them can be “provocative” to men.

Israel is not new to such extreme religious rulings. In December, ultra-orthodox rabbis demanded that all women avoid higher education in the city of Bnei Brak, which is located just east of Tel Aviv and known as the center of Ultra-Orthodox Judaism, Yeshida World News reported. According to the decree, higher education posed a danger.

Haredi rabbis have also tried to prohibit the use of the internet and smartphones in the past.

The Haredi stance against women reached a boiling point back in 2014, when ultra-Orthodox Jews refused to be seated next to women on airplanes on religious grounds, forcing the public to petition Israel’s national airline, El Al, to “stop the bullying, intimidation and discrimination against women” on its flights.

Man seeks restraining order against God

fg
An Israeli man has petitioned the Haifa Magistrate’s Court for a restraining order against God, claiming the Almighty has been particularly unkind to him.
The initiator of the request, a resident of the northern port city, represented himself in court, the Walla news site reported on Wednesday.

A protocol of the hearing noted that God did not turn up for the session, although it did not specify how the court determined the Omnipresent was not in fact there, as opposed to merely exercising the right to remain silent.

“Get pensioners to pick fruit and vegetables in the fields” says Tory minister

 width=
Hapless former Environment Secretary, Owen Paterson, suggested that old age pensioners be put to work on the UK’s fruit farms. He even had the cheek to say that because they would probably be a bit slow, they should be paid less than the minimum wage so as not to waste the farmers’ money.

Paterson’s army of silver haired and grimy finger nailed serfs would have replaced some 20,000 (mostly youthful) Bulgarians and Romanians who had been employed seasonally under a scheme which preceded the total opening of the jobs market to the eastern European countries.

The notion that the elderly are somehow slacking and need to be put to work if they’re to have any social value is a grotesque distortion of reality. Lord Bichard, a former head of the Benefits Agency, proposed that retired people should do community service or face losing some of their pension. He was slapped down by, among others, Michelle Mitchell of Age UK who pointed out that over a third of people aged 65-74 already do voluntary work anyway. No doubt many such folk enjoy picking fruit as well, but there’s a huge difference between a spot of pick your own with the grandkids and the gruelling high pace and long hours of a commercial farm.

Protesting Donald Trump Is Now A Federal Crime

protesting-trump-federal-crime-620x350
GOP front-runner Donald Trump has vowed to arrest anybody who protests his bid to become President – taking advantage of a loophole in the law that makes it illegal for citizens to protest at Presidential rallies.

Following the stage invasion earlier this week in Illinois, Trump has said he will force police officers to enforce the Federal Restricted Buildings and Grounds Improvement Act (H.R. 347) – which makes it a federal crime punishable by up to 10 years in prison to “willfully and knowingly” enter a restricted area or to engage in “disorderly or disruptive conduct” that in any way impedes “government business or official functions.”

Woman Forced To Move Seat On El Al Flight For Religious Man

An ultra-orthodox religious man objected to being allocated a seat next to a woman on an El Al flight.

The airline removed an 81-year-old woman passenger from her seat to make room for an ultra-orthadox Hasidic man. Renee Rabinowitz reluctantly gave up her seat so that the flight from Newark to Tel Aviv would depart on time but says she plans to sue the airline.

Saudi Arabia sentences a man to 10 years in prison and 2,000 lashes for expressing his atheism on Twitter

The report carried in Al-Watan says the 28-year-old man admitted to being an atheist and refused to repent, saying that what he wrote reflected his own beliefs and that he had the right to express them. The report did not name the man.

It added that ‘religious police’ in charge of monitoring social networks found more than 600 tweets denying the existence of God, ridiculing the Quranic verses, accusing all prophets of lies and saying their teaching fuelled hostilities. The court also fined him 20,000 riyals – or, just short of £4,000

In 2014 the oil-rich kingdom, under the late Saudi King Abdullah, introduced a series of new laws which defined atheists as terrorists, according to a report released from Human Rights Watch.

Turkish man sues own wife for ‘swearing at President Erdogan’

A Turkish man has filed a legal complaint against his own wife for insulting country’s President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and turning off the TV during his speeches, local media report.

The 40-year-old truck driver, named only as Ali D. by the newspaper Yeni Safak, said that he warned his spouse on numerous occasions against offending the President.

However, the woman apparently ignored his words and kept swearing at Erdogan during his appearances on television, or changed the channel.

“I kept on warning her, saying why are you doing this? Our president is a good person and did good things for Turkey,” Ali told the daily.

The wife reportedly provoked legal action against herself by telling her husband to “record and lodge a complaint” if he dislikes her behavior so much.

Ukraine wants to criminalize calling Russia ‘Russia’

The Ukrainian parliament is to consider a bill, which would make calling Russia ‘Russia’ a criminal offense. The bill penned by a Radical Party MP says ‘Russia’ derives from Ukraine’s historic name and can’t be used by the Russian Federation.

With the word ‘Russia’ inadmissible, the bill says ‘Moscovia’ should be used instead.

Violating the ban would be considered a crime and punishable by a fine of about $2,875 and twice that much for repeat offenders and government officials.

The bill was submitted in June 2015 by Oksana Korchinskaya of the Radical Party and is listed for a hearing during parliament’s ongoing session, which will last until July 22. The exact date of the hearing hasn’t been set yet.
